Interviews will take place either on campus, in-person or online via Microsoft Teams depending on the course that you have applied for. A detailed scheduled will be provided as part of your interview booking confirmation.

BA (Hons) Primary Education with QTS

IN PREPARATION FOR YOUR INTERVIEW:
You will need to prepare for the interview by doing the following:
- Choose a favourite children’s book that you can talk about on the day. You may want to have a copy with you during the interview.

IN PREPARATION FOR YOUR INTERVIEW:
You will need to prepare for the interview by doing the following:
- Use www.schoolsweek.co.uk to research current issues/debates in education and consider how these are in play in your own school (if appropriate) and how these relate to your work with children.
- Choose a children’s book which you like or have seen used in schools. You will be asked in the interview to share ideas about how you might use this book in schools. Please do not prepare a presentation or a script about this as your ideas will be part of a discussion with others, not a presentation. It would be helpful to bring the book with you to the interview.
PGCE Primary

IN PREPARATION FOR YOUR INTERVIEW:
You will need to prepare for the interview by doing the following:
- Research the three themes listed below. You might also consider how these relate to any experience that you might have of working with children, but the interviewers are aware that you may not have had chance to carry out work experience in schools. The themes to research are:
- The purpose of assessment in the classroom;
- Ways that behaviour is managed in schools;
- Mental health and wellbeing in schools.

PGCE Secondary
The interview includes a two-stage selection process; a writing task and subject task, followed by an individual interview. You will need to complete your tasks prior to your interview.
For your individual interview, the interviewing academic will send you an email inviting you to join your interview via a separate Microsoft Teams link, either the day before, or on the morning of your interview. You will need to click the link to take part in your interview, this may be anytime from 9.00am-4.00pm.
