Graduation 2025 will be taking place on Wednesday 20th and Thursday 31st July 2025.

Important Information for Graduating Students

Official Invitations will be sent to graduating students via email in March 2025, and your invitation will include details of when you can register to attend your ceremony

Please do not delay in registering to attend your Graduation Ceremony and book your tickets, even if you think the event may be cancelled or if you think you may not pass the course, as late registrations will not be accepted.

The ceremony you attend depends on which course you have studied. Information regarding your ceremony allocation is typically released in February.

*Your invitation is subject to successful completion of your programme and will be confirmed once your final result has been ratified by the Board of Examiners.

Academic Dress

You are required to wear full academic dress for the duration of your ceremony (gown, hood and mortarboard). This must be ordered in advance and will be provided by Ede & Ravenscroft, the University’s official gown hire company. If you do not order your robes in advance, there is no guarantee that the correct academic dress will be available for you on the day.

It is recommended that you wear plain, simple and smart clothes, as these look best with your robes. To get an idea of what will work best for you, why not take a look at last year’s Graduation photos on our Facebook page, or take a look at the recordings from last year’s Graduation Ceremonies here.

On the day of the ceremony, you will be able to collect your gowns from Ede & Ravenscroft, who will be based in the Robert Hardy Building, as detailed on the timetable you will receive in your information and ticket pack. The gown hire costs are as follows:

Sub-Degree Award

£46.00

Bachelors/Foundation/Diploma:

£49.50

Postgraduate and Masters Awards:

£56.00

Doctorate (Validated by the University of Leicester):

£64.00

Guest tickets for Graduation are £20 each to include a free glass of Fizz (or alternative soft option). Graduating students do not require a ticket, but a Fizz ticket for the student will be included in the ticket pack.

Photography and Live Streaming

The official photographers for Graduation are Ede & Ravenscroft, who will be available for both individual and family group photographs from 7am until 6pm in the Robert Hardy Building.

There will be a photograph taken of each student as they cross the platform during the ceremony. It is recommended that you have your photographs taken after the ceremony if you are attending the morning ceremonies, as there will be more time for you to do this at your leisure.

All Graduation ceremonies are live streamed and can be accessed via the links below. Graduating students and guests should be aware that they might appear in this recording, which could also be used at subsequent events at a later date.

By registering for your Graduation Ceremony, you agree to the Graduation Terms and Conditions which can be found below.
