What is a Biometric Residence Permit (BRP)?
A Biometric Residence Permit (BRP) is a credit-card-sized permit, issued by the UK Home Office. It has your name, date of birth, place of birth, fingerprints and a photo of your face on, plus details on your immigration status and conditions of stay. Your BRP can confirm your identity, your right to study or work in the UK, and your right to any public services or benefits you’re entitled to. The BRP is an important document, and you must keep it safe.
How to collect your BRP
If you applied for your BRP from outside the UK, you will need to collect your BRP from Lincoln’s central Post Office (Sincil Street Post Office) before the vignette sticker in your travel document expires or within 10 days of arriving in the UK, whichever is later. Your decision letter from UKVI will confirm this detail. You’ll need to bring your passport with your vignette sticker in when you collect it.
