Age UK Lincolnshire & South Lincolnshire is the society’s chosen charity for the upcoming year in recognition of the important work they carry out in the local community to make lives of elderly people as happy and as comfortable as possible.
The Danceathon entailed 12 hours of continuous dancing in a wide variety of styles to an even wider selection of music. Previous showcase routines, classic party hits like the ‘Macarena’ and ‘Cha Cha slide’ and a flash mob outside the SU, to a mash up of cheesy hits like ‘5,6,7,8’ and ‘Time Warp’, were performed for the entertainment of the BGU campus community.
Over the course of the day the society raised £451.08, through a mixture of online donations and an on the day bucket collection. Hannah Cotter, this year’s Dance Society President, was full of praise for her fellow performers:
“All of our members worked incredibly hard throughout the day, and the exec team (Vice President Keeley Pearson, Treasurer Lauren English, Secretary Olivia Ditte and myself) are all incredibly proud of them! We are very grateful for all the donations made, and are excited to carry on fundraising for such an important cause throughout the year.”
You can find more information on the fundraising plans of all our societies and how you can get involved with them on the BGSU website. Looking to start your journey at BGU, find out more on our apply page.
