Each year students Bishop Grosseteste University and the University of Lincoln go head-to-head in a men’s football match.
The match took place at LNER Stadium in Sincil Bank, the home of Lincoln City Football club with fans from both universities watching from the crowds.
The first half started off with plenty of action across the pitch, as Taylor Gray put in the first goal with a well-timed header off the bar.
Shortly after, Jon Smith put BGU two goals clear with a skillful assist from Luke Hobson.
During half time the BGSU Dance Society and the BGU Lions put on a great display for the crowds.
Into the second half, Lincoln managed to score bringing us to 2-1 to BGU. Entering extra time, despite several shots on goal from Lincoln, BGU's defence held strong and took the Cathedral Cup.
Following BGU's success, Tristan Drummond was awarded Man of the Match.
Rob Boast, Pro Vice-Chancellor (Students), said: "We're very proud of the achievement of the BGU Men's Football team in their 2-1 win against the University of Lincoln's team in the Cathedral Cup. A great result to regain the trophy!"
