Dr Tim Galsworthy, Lecturer in History and Military History and Expert in modern political history in the USA, has been called to publicly comment on the recent presidential inauguration both across the UK and internationally.
Dr Galsworthy’s comments have formed part of his appearances on media outlets including BBC 5 Live, BBC Radio Wales, BBC Radio Scotland, BBC Central News Service, UCB1, and Pravda (Slovakia).
In particular, he discussed the pardons of the USA’s former and current presidents, the recent inauguration ceremony itself, and wider elements of contemporary US politics.
During his interview with Carl Roberts on BBC Radio Wales, Tim said: “I’m a historian and I like talking about the past, not the present.
“The comparison between Jimmy Carter and Joe Biden is an interesting one – I’m not sure whether Biden will have the opportunity and time to create the same positive legacy after leaving office.
“I think a more realistic past comparison could be Lyndon Johnson, who was never re-evaluated until much later, by historians.”
