Last week, our Bishop Grosseteste Students’ Union (BGSU) hosted over 150 student union representatives from across England for the NUS conference 2025.

Attendees, from a variety of universities across the country, had the opportunity to review past work, set priorities and policy for the coming year, and elect NUS leadership.

Further to this, the conference provided a platform to discuss key issues that students and apprentices are currently facing, including funding and the role of students’ unions in tackling far right extremism.

As the national union representing university and college students across the UK, events like this support NUS to build a powerful student movement.

Jayne Robinson, Conferencing and Events Manager at BGU, said: “Thank you so much to every member of our BGU Estates Team, who were involved in hosting the NUS conference 2025.

“On behalf of the whole team, we would like to say how grateful we were to be selected for the opportunity to host our first NUS conference and welcome 150 enthusiastic individuals onto campus who stayed in our new student village accommodation!

“We truly hope that all attendees had an unforgettable experience here with us at BGU.”

Outside of the daytime schedule, guests received a true BGU welcome with a fun filled evening of karaoke at our Student’s Union Bar!

Samantha Baxter, Events Project Manager at NUS, said: “I would like to say a heartfelt thank you to the team at BGU for being an incredible partner in hosting our conference. Their hospitality, support, and beautiful campus contributed to making the event a remarkable success.

"We look forward to future opportunities to work together, alongside our nationwide network of student union representatives!"
