New Qualification to Keep General Practice Nursing ‘Fit for Purpose’

The PG Cert In General Practice Nursing is a specialised Master's level Programme to which will provide Registered Healthcare Professionals, who are currently working in the Primary Care (General Practice) setting, with a learner-centred and practice-focused programme of study, meeting their personal, professional and practice development needs.

To do this it will support students to develop a range of skills essential for today’s General Practice environment. It will provide an opportunity to critically review their own practice, but also enable review of current provision, thus ensuring that it too is contextually ‘fit for purpose’.

It aims to produce high-calibre postgraduates who are autonomous, reflexive, possessing of inquiring and analytical minds as part of their continued professional development required by their relevant Professional Regulatory body.

The course will support students’ professional prospects, by adding quality to the care they provide, and will promote their continued study at doctoral level and beyond. The curriculum design focuses on both professional and service requirements supported by key generic competencies which cross all modules:
