Yesterday, St Nicholas Church of England Primary Academy, who work in collaboration with student teachers at BGU, appeared on BBC Breakfast News.
The feature, which appeared on national breakfast television, highlights the extraordinary levels of support that the school provide for their pupils.
From teeth brushing to providing food, supporting parents through difficult challenges and providing resources for families in crisis – the teachers are much more than just educators.
During the segment on BBC Breakfast, a student at the school said: “They make everyone feel welcome and loved – it’s just so amazing.”
Fiona Booth, Headteacher at St Nicholas CofE Primary Academy, described the situation: “We find ourselves on the coast of Lincolnshire in a rural town with high deprivation, high crime and low employment.
“What makes us special at St Nicholas’ is that we are quality centric, working to grow strong and inclusive values by getting to know our children.
“Our families feel that they can trust us, be open with us and rely on us, because of our commitment to enabling everybody to shine.”
St Nicholas are part of the Infinity Academies Trust, who are a Lead Partner with the BGU Initial Teacher Education (ITE) Partnership for the academic year 2024 to 2025.
The school is therefore able to provide placement opportunities for trainee teachers studying our PGCE, BA Primary Education and FdA Primary Teaching Studies programmes.
Christopher Davison, Head of Initial Teacher Training, Mentoring and Partnerships at BGU, thanked the trust: “The BGU ITE Partnership is delighted to be working in collaboration with the Infinity Trust.
“Our shared ethos ensures the development of teachers who put the progress and wellbeing of children and young people first. We are committed to developing outstanding teachers who are dedicated to making a positive contribution to pupil achievement, aspirations, opportunities and wellbeing.”
Ami Montgomery, Deputy Head of ITE Programmes at BGU, commented on the recent coverage and the work of the St Nicholas team: “I wanted to extend my heartfelt congratulations to the entire St Nicholas team.
“Being featured on National BBC Breakfast News is a remarkable achievement and a testament to the outstanding work they all do.
