BGU Student Advice & Wellbeing services are:

  • non-judgemental - We will not make judgements about any information you disclose to us - we will simply advise you of the options available to you so you can decide on an appropriate course of action.
  • confidential - Any information you disclose to Student Advice & Wellbeing will be handled sensitively in line with our Confidentiality Policy. Please feel free to discuss this with our staff if you require more detailed information.
  • professional - Our team has many years experience of giving advice to students in higher education. We have wide ranging information resources that are regularly updated and we are committed to undertaking regular staff development to ensure we have the skills to assist you further.

We have a wealth of experience of assisting students in higher education and we are committed to the continual development of our skills and resources.

BGU's Student Advice & Wellbeing Team provides the following range of services, offering advice and guidance to prospective and current students:

Advice Service

We provide generalist welfare advice and specialise in money advice and the financial options available.

Accessibility Support

We provide support for students with physical and/or sensory disabilities, autism, specific learning differences, mental health conditions or medical conditions to help facilitate more effective engagement with study during their course.

Mental Health & Wellbeing Advice

We provide specialised mental health support and resources for students who experience difficulties with their mental health during their studies.

Counselling Service

The counselling service is available to all students and is via an independent private practice to ensure confidentiality and discretion.

Funding

We offer the BGU Learning Fund and BGU Bursary - as well as expert advice and guidance regarding student loans and grants.

Care Experienced Students

We support students from care by coordinating financial support, and locating and providing other sources of helpful assistance.

Students with Caring Responsibilities

We provide additional support, including reasonable adjustments and bursary support, for students who are carers.
